Closest fit first: the smallest limit that still covers the rating your lawn needs, then the lower price, then the larger slope margin.

Fits48

The limit covers the rating your lawn needs, and nothing rules the model out.

This page ranks the 48 mowers in the Botsize dataset that are sold in the EU. Prices are the maker's list price, or the price its page showed that month (sometimes a sale price), with the month we read it.

To work out your own lawn size, the lawn area calculator adds up the shapes of your garden.

Choosing a mower for a small garden

This page sizes a garden of 150 m² (1,615 sq ft) with a complex shape: beds, corners and narrow strips. With the complex factor of 1.5, the lawn needs a rating of 225 m² (2,422 sq ft), below the smallest rating in the dataset, so area rules no model out.

So the choice turns on price, slope and access. The sizer puts the smallest rating that still fits first. A model whose limit is more than 6 times the lawn, above 900 m² (9,688 sq ft) here, carries an oversized note. Sort by price to see the cheapest fitting models in your region.

In a small garden the obstacles matter more than the area. Measure the narrowest gap the mower must pass and the steepest bank it must climb, and enter both in the sizer. Narrow strips between beds and walls are where a small garden differs from a small lawn.

Questions about small gardens

Is the smallest mower always the right choice?
It is the closest fit on area, which the sizer ranks first. Check its slope limit and passage width against your garden before price decides.
Why use the complex shape for a small garden?
Beds, corners and strips make up a larger share of a small garden. The complex factor allows for the extra turns.
