Robot mowers with a boundary wire: which fit and why
Botsize ran every robot mower in its dataset through the sizer for a 1,000 m² lawn. The verdicts below follow your region, and each card shows the numbers behind its verdict.

The 3 that fit and use a boundary wire
In the sizer's order: closest fit first. Each figure is the maker's own; the area limit is the one the sizer compares.
Wire models come first in each group, as you asked, then this order. Closest fit first: the smallest limit that still covers the rating your lawn needs, then the lower price, then the larger slope margin.

This page ranks the 48 mowers in the Botsize dataset that are sold in the EU. Prices are the maker's list price, or the price its page showed that month (sometimes a sale price), with the month we read it.

Choosing a mower with a boundary wire
With "wire is fine and preferred" chosen, no model is ruled out and the wire models come first within each group. The page counts how many of the fitting models use a wire, so you can see how much choice remains in that family.
A boundary wire needs no sky, no antenna and no mobile data. It suits lawns under big trees, lawns between tall buildings and owners who prefer a fixed boundary in the ground. The cost is the installation: a wire along every edge and around every bed, pegged or buried, and a repair when it breaks.
Husqvarna lists what breaks a wire: long grass at installation, sharp bends, stakes that rise in soft or dry soil, and stones (Husqvarna support). Plan the layout before you choose a model, and check the slope limits, which some makers state lower for the edge where the wire runs.
Questions about boundary wire mowers
Does a boundary wire mower work under trees?
Yes. It follows the signal in the wire and does not need satellite reception, so the sizer gives wire models no sky warning.
Does the wire have to be buried?
No. Makers allow pegging it to the ground. Husqvarna gives burying it 1 to 20 cm deep as an option that protects it from damage.
