The data behind the tools
Updated
What a record holds
- Robot mowers: rated area and the basis the maker states it on, maximum slope, navigation (boundary wire, satellite positioning, camera or LiDAR), whether an antenna is needed at home, passage width, separate lawn areas, cutting heights, and prices by region, each with its kind and the month we read it.
- Robot vacuums: threshold climb height, robot height, what the dock does and its size, mop type, lift and whether it detaches, coverage per charge, maps stored, suction as stated, and prices by region, each with its kind and the month we read it.
- Every record: the official pages it comes from, the date we read each one, and a confidence level.
The dataset today
These tables are built from the records each time the site is built, so the counts and dates match the tools.
| Robots | Models | Brands | Sold in the US | Sold in the UK | Sold in the EU | Sources read |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Robot mowers | 65 | 16 | 33 | 35 | 48 | October 6, 2026 to October 6, 2026 |
| Robot vacuums | 42 | 9 | 37 | 13 | 15 | October 6, 2026 to October 6, 2026 |
How complete the fields are
A field that most makers publish can decide a verdict. A field that few publish only adds a note, so a gap in one maker's page never pushes its robot down the list. The tables show both.
| Field | Published | What it does in the sizer |
|---|---|---|
| Rated area | 65 of 65 | Decides the area verdict |
| Steepest slope | 65 of 65 | Decides the slope verdict; missing sends a model to needs a check |
| Separate lawn areas | 58 of 65 | Rules a model out for several lawns when it handles one |
| Narrowest passage | 17 of 65 | A note only: few makers publish it |
| Antenna at home (satellite models) | 31 of 38 | Shown on the card; "not stated" when missing |
| US price (models sold there) | 33 of 33 | Budget check and price ranking |
| UK price (models sold there) | 26 of 35 | Budget check and price ranking |
| EU price (models sold there) | 38 of 48 | Budget check and price ranking |
| Field | Published | What it does in the finder |
|---|---|---|
| Threshold climb | 31 of 42 | Decides the threshold verdict; missing sends a model to needs a check |
| Robot height | 37 of 42 | Decides the furniture verdict; missing sends a model to needs a check |
| Dock features | 42 of 42 | Rules a model out when the dock does less than asked |
| Mop lift (mopping models) | 25 of 41 | A note on carpet |
| Area per charge | 4 of 42 | A note only: few makers publish it |
| Dock height | 31 of 42 | A note when you give the space for the dock |
| US price (models sold there) | 37 of 37 | Budget check and price ranking |
| UK price (models sold there) | 10 of 13 | Budget check and price ranking |
| EU price (models sold there) | 15 of 15 | Budget check and price ranking |
Brands and models
Every model the tools rank, by brand, with the date we last read its pages. Each links to its page with the specifications, prices and sources. The dataset covers the models we have read so far, not every robot on sale: a brand or model missing here is missing from the results too.
Source policy
We use the maker's product page, store, manual, specification sheet or support article. Today the records cite 298 official pages: 190 product pages, 48 store pages, 37 manuals and 23 support pages and specification sheets.
Retailers help us find models and never supply a published fact, with one exception: a list price for a model the maker sells only through retailers, marked as a retailer price (0 of 159 prices today). When two official pages disagree, we keep the product page value and mark the record medium confidence. 36 records carry high confidence and 71 medium.
Values that differ by market
Some makers rate the same machine differently in each market, or sell it under another name. For 13 mower records we keep the rating, cutting heights, warranty or name per market, and the tools show the value for your region. Elsewhere one value stands for every market, and where official figures conflict for a mower rating, the lower one is stored.
Prices are never converted between currencies. Each region shows the price from that market with the month we read it, and a model not sold in a region does not appear in that region's results.
Values a maker does not publish
They stay empty and show as not published. We never estimate them. A check that needs a missing value reads unknown, and the robot goes to needs a check: it neither passes nor fails on a number nobody published.
Figures we store but do not compare
- Suction is stored as each maker states it, in pascals, air watts or words. Makers measure it in different ways, so it never ranks a vacuum; the suction guide explains.
- Climb heights are the tallest single step a maker states. A few pages give one headline figure without saying what kind of step it is; the model page lists the source behind each.
- Dock heights come from dimensions that makers do not always label, so a dock size only ever adds a warning.
- Mower noise figures mix sound power, sound pressure and "below" claims, so they appear in the specifications only.
How fresh it is
Every source carries the date we read it, and each model page shows those dates. Each price shows the month we read it, and we aim to re-read prices and availability monthly. We check every correction a reader sends against the maker's page. Prices change more often than specifications, so confirm the price on the maker's page before you buy.
Corrections
Send the maker's page that shows the right value to hello@botsize.com. We check it against that page and update the record and its date.
